Since the beginning of time, there have been men and women who have been called to heal the sick, to safeguard knowledge, to guide the lost, and to commune with the spirit world.  As more and more people accept the belief that healing necessarily involves the soul as well as the physical self, they are consulting shamans in a search for wellness, wisdom, and guidance.

Shamanism is a an ancient healing modality that over the centuries has not changed in any quantifiable way.  It is grounded on the principle that the visible world is saturated with unseen forces that influence the lives of human beings. Shamans dedicate themselves to diagnosing and curing human suffering—whether emotional, physical, or spiritual.  Shamans are intermediaries between the physical and spiritual realms and are able to tailor healing to the needs of the individual who seek them out. A shaman is able to work with your sources of energy giving you balance and empowerment where you have lost it and removing misplaced energy that can be harmful.

A  shaman will endeavour  to know and understand you before helping you. In this way, a shaman can provide you with therapies that act on your whole being, positively influencing your body as well as your soul.

Shamanic training involves a rigorous practice of self-healing healing before undertaking the responsibility for creating the sacred space for the healing work of others. To become a shaman is a life changing experience and impeccability in act and deed is a continuous practice whether one is working or just moving about in the world. Becoming a shaman is about embracing an entirely new way of life where one is consciously aware at all times teach and every word, every intention, every thought can be a prayer that has implications for yourself, your loved ones, every generation to come and in fact for all of creation.

My Story

In the mid 1980’s I began to study Shamanism and to live it on many levels. I was able to walk the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia and worked with several North American Native Shamans. I asked my first Shaman, (who later became a very dear friend) “Would you teach me?” His name was Chief Hidden Wolf and he told me that he would smoke on it for three days. The basis for this is that he would check in with ‘Great Spirit’. It also gave him time to totally think over the situation. He said if more people took the time to assess a situation and not make quick decisions, there would be less mistakes and misunderstandings.

Hidden Wolf’s answer was, “Spirit will Teach you and work with you. When you have questions, come to me.  You will take the ways of the Native and make many of them your own.”

I attended a Sundance in Pipestone Minnesota in the late 1990’s. I was honoured as a non-native woman to be asked into the inner circle with the native women who had been called, to stand at the Sacred Tree and to be gifted with Shamanic Healing.

I became a pipe carrier and have held purification (sweat) lodges with Native Shamans at our home in Ompah. I walked miles, prayed many prayers and worked with the Totem Animals and the four directions to empower our earth, Father Sky, all of my relations and myself over the years.

Many years have passed and I still walk our dear Mother Earth and remember Hidden Wolf’s words and wisdom and teachings when I asked the questions. I am truly grateful to Hidden Wolf, the other connected Shamans, Mother Earth and Father Sky, all of my relations, the grandmothers and grandfathers and Great Spirit.

Along with North American Shamanism, I have studied the Andes Munay-Ki, The Nine Great Peruvian Rites of Initiation of the Medicine Way.

Munay-Ki - The Nine Great Peruvian Rites of Initiation of the Medicine Way

To try to explain Munay-ki would take more than a lifetime.

These words may serve to enlighten you.

"I am more than flesh and bone, that I am fashioned of Spirit and light."

These are the words of Dr. Alberto Villoldo, of the Four Winds Society, who went back to the roots of the Inka to collect the vestiges of this 5000 year old energy medicine. He has brought this information to the world and asks that we share our knowledge with others to bring them more into alignment with themselves, with others and with our Earth.
He also writes:

"For five hundred years the Inka have been keepers of the ancient rites. They believe that if it were not for their stewardship of the earth through prayers and ceremony, certain gateways to our collective destiny would be lost forever.”

I teach and share the Nine Peruvian Rites. The healing takes place in the luminous energy field and allows the body to release pre-existing patterns that keep it in imbalance.

Dis-ease starts in our luminous body which comprises our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual auras. When we work in these fields we empower the person to remove the root cause of the dis-ease. All the work I do, whether directly Shamanistic or not encompasses all the fields, all levels, all planes, all dimensions.

I consider myself a ‘Dancing ‘Healer’ ‘ This means that I choose exactly what modality or modalities in my ‘trunk of tools’ will best work to empower the client in their journey to wellness. The belief system of the client is one of the most important areas to tap into for with belief and intent, miracles will happen.
